I went to three different yards today. The alt's looked the same in the style pictured below. I thought after removing it that there would be stampings or tags that identified it as to what amp's it was; wrong! I was in a hurry so all I saw was the regulator's ford number, but that fits a number of different alts.
So my question is.... What specific vehicle has the 130amp alt pictured below? The one I pulled was from a 90 something Taurus wagon. Engine size unknown.
Thanks for any help. Heading to one last P&P tomorrow morning....
.
Just look at the holes in the reinforcement webs. 2 holes = 130 amp If there are 4 holes it is a small case and usually 90 amps. Some are 130, but why chance it?
IMO, just look at early to mid 90s Ford Taurus or Mercury Sables. If each of the junkyards I go to there are a plethora of those cars and one is surely to have a fairly nice looking unit.

Ya might want to wait until Saturday to hit up the PnP yards cuz they'll be doing on of their 50% off everything weekend starting on January 14. What is usually a $27 alternator (incl. $7 core) will be $10 plus $7 core.

Thanks for that Josh! Here's a pic I found of the holes to look for:

Yep, I thought I had done my homework but didn't expect to find the amp info NOT stamped into the case like most other alt's.

I guess some do and some don't. Mine has a cast, raised bolt boss where your number is.... Go figure.....

Unless you are "special" , cough cough, lol. Toolkit Rewards membership lets you get half off a day early; Thursday in this case....
I got lucky and got my MKIII fan, 3G alt, a great dash,(thanks to "CandyCane"), and a drop pitman arm yesterday! Today? Hoping for a push bar; if it's still there.
