48-50's Fords/Mercurys (they look the same) are the best looking trucks ever made (I am not partial at all).
Since you asked for that range of years in whatever make, even though I may get my membership revoked for saying this: The second best are the 55 - 57 Ch*vy's.
The 48-50 Mercury trucks had a 4 bar grill instead of the 5 bar grill the Fords used. The grill was also longer so the turn signals are in the fenders. It also had trim on the front and rear fenders.
Well it looks like a horserace between 48-50 and 56 so far. Nathan, thanks for putting the poll up. 'Fenders, you like 48 and 50, but 49 isn't on your list. I bet you can't tell them apart. I can't either, but why would you like 48, then 50, and leave out 49 which is the same truck?

Vern
I was hoping that 1949 was your favorite. I did it for no other reason than to make you mad.
Are we trolling for trouble on this fine Easter morning? I originally had a slash between my 48 and 50 to signify 48 "through" 50. Something went terribly wrong and I can't find a plausible explanation. I'll request a congressional inquiry on Monday.
Sheesh, post my appreciation for something I don't even own and I get ripped for it.
I never get mad...perturbed once in a while, but not mad. Let me know the results of that inquiry. It was more of a rib than a rip. I kinda figured you meant to include 49. My choice of order would be, 48,49,50,51,52,56,55,53,54,57,58,59, and 60.
I know you are messing with me. While we are on the subject though, who knows the difference between 48 and 49? Is it like a 53-55 where a couple missing pieces, and you can't really tell what you got anymore? I spent a couple years wondering if my cab is in fact a 53, then I just let it go.
I think that the only thing that changed from 48 to 49 to 50 was the colors offered. I think in 49 they started painting the wheels body color as well. There isn't anyway to tell them apart.
Vern's outside right now taking paint scrapings off his wheels to see if he really has a 49. If you find any 3100 emblems you can stop Vern, it's a half ton Chevy.
