Measuring Fuel Pressure

Can the AE measure fuel pressure? I'm assuming not for the same reasons the SGII cannot.

If not, which gauge is the best for doing so?

There is no stock fuel pressure sender on the 6.0 so the AE, SGII, nor the Edge Insight can do it unless you purchase the additional sender for measuring so. Any mechanical/digital or both remote mounted to the bottom of the fuel bowl will allow for the measurement of fuel pressure.

As already pointed out, anything that's wired into the truck via the OBD port won't be able to read fuel pressure. Why Navistar/Ford never put a sensor on that (at any point in the 6.0L production) is beyond me, you'd think they'd what to measure that since it's so important. With that said, I'm running an Isspro EV2 that picked up through RiffRaff. If you go that route, make sure you specify your running a 6.0L; the 7.3L & 6.0L use different sized ports on the fuel pressure test port. Not sure what the 7.3L is off the top of my head, but the 6.0L is M12 X 1.5; most gauge kits come with an adapter to convert from metric to 1/8 NPT which almost all gauges sold here in the states are.

Let me ask this....Can you add a sending unit and have the SGII read the pressure in lieu of buying another gauge?

Short answer, NO. SGII xgauges can only be programmed to pick up the sensors that Ford monitors. As zhilton pointed out, these trucks, for whatever reason, do not monitor the fuel pressure.

Not really, both SGII and AE get all their information from the PCM which was never set-up to monitor fuel pressure. I can't think of anything else on the engine thats ignored like the fuel pressure is. Even though there aren't gauges for it, the engine knows it's actual EOT, ECT, boost pressure, fuel consumption rate, voltage and on down the line.

But does the Insight get all of it's information sole through the OBD port? That's what I'm basing my information on. Never been around Edge productions, so I have no idea what they can/can't do.

Like you said before, the fuel pressure by itself isn't monitored by the PCM. So I don't see how the Edge can monitor it without adding a sending unit. Maybe I am off base and can learn something here...

I believe it is any add on to the Edge. Using the OBD port and an additional wire hook up to a fuel pressure sending unit.
