I just cut the upper trim down where the side marker light trim attaches to it. Perfect place to cut it, racetrack trim is not too bad either if I spend some time with a special dolly to fold the end back shut. If I run across some good longbed trim I can let you know. Might not be too spendy to ship.
I also am going to shorten some long trim for my crew. I am planning to do the upper piece the same as you have, should be pretty easy. I'm going to shorten the racetrack as well and i'd be interested in seeing some pics of how you do yours. I'm curently in the process of shortening a front door piece into a rear door piece. Anyways, great build so far, keep up the good work!!
I've had a family member near death for the last few weeks, all I've got done was prime the bed and cab. Hopefully next week I can start back in on this and finish it up. I'll be sure to post pics.
joedaddy, I just did the math on the difference in wheelbase from my truck to a stock shortbed supercab, that is how much I took out of the frame and bed. I'll be happy to help with any q's you have.

Reason: cant spell
Hope your sick family member is doing better. I was watching for more pics, this build interests me a lot. I'm still thinking of doing the same thing to mine, I really like short beds so much better! That gas door is really cool too, how many dentside guru's do you think will notice it being a round door instead of rectagular?
Finally had some time to work on the supercab, got the interior painted friday night, some final prep and both colors saturday, then 3 wet coats of clear on Sunday. Whew, I'm not used to working this hard!
Finally done blocking! Bed is not bolted down. Time to paint!
Sprayed the corintian white and masked it off....
Here is the red and clear...
Can't wait to start buffing and bolting it all together now!
Thanks guys.
Mark, I sure have gotten a work out! Sprayed your truck, a 77 ford mud truck for a buddy last weekend, now mine this weekend. I'm taking next weekend off!
Forgot to post a pic of the shortened bed with the round gas door, was kinda the most unique part of the job.
Thanks guys. Threw the bed on loose, and drove in next door to the other building for assembly and panel alignment, cant wait to see it outside again with everything lined up and the trim on. I'll do a spray in bed liner after everything else is done.
