Hello everyone. I usually hang out on the 80-86 truck board but I have a question about my dad's Mountaineer. He has a 2000 V8 auto and it is having starting problem.
Here's a little history about it first. He's had it for several years and it runs and drives great. Just turned over 100K miles. About a year ago or so it started not wanting to start after parked, like when you needed to run into a store. Never gave any codes, and still doesn't, but from checking around with some people we know decided it was the fuel pump. So he had it replaced along with the filter, problem gone.
But ever sense the new pump it has been hard to start. What I mean by that is it has to turn over several times like it's getting no spark or has to build up fuel pressure. It does this EVERY time you start it, doesn't matter warm or cold. He took it back to the shop that replaced the pump and they did a pressure check on it and he was told it was right in specs where it should be. Anyone have an idea what might be causing the problem. It's not a real big problem because it always starts, it's just aggravating to him because we know it isn't right.
