ok so i bought a house so i havent been on here in awhile, long story short,
at one point i took to much weight in the back of the truck , drove 30 minutes, trans fluid boiled, i lost gear, after cooled down i had gears again,
fast forward few weeks,
drain fluid replaced, overfilled it, let it run till it stopped leaking out the top or side vent things
drove to work, 30 minutes, half highway half city, i get to work fine no slipping or nothing, i stop put in park, and i hear sssssssss and a puff of smoke like a steam engine, tranny fluid shooting out the side vents,
i let it sit two days, i drive half way home, park were good
i drive the rest of the way home a day later, stop in front of house for a minute, as soon as i put in park, sssssssssssss and huge billow of smoke again, this time it caught the housing and exhaust on fire, luckily had a extinguisher and no damage other then a melted plug wire, so, why do u think?
no idea, i drained it and refilled it but at this point i forget how many i put it, i know it takes like 12-14 range, and i dont know how much is left in after draining from pan
If you overfill the tranny, it makes the fluid foam and it pukes out anywhere it can. Why in the world did you overfill it? Now you are going to have a fun time trying to get it out.

Yep, 4-5 for a shallow 2wd pan, and 5-7 for a deep 4wd pan.
