Seats for bad back
I have an '03 Superduty with the Lariat leather interior. As I have gotten older I find the seats are not nearly as supportive as they could be. Miles on the truck are only 90K, so the seats are far from worn out. Frankly, the bucket seats in my inexpensive commuter car are much more back friendly than the ones in my $45K truck. So I don't need super fancy or super cushy; I just need firm.
I suppose there are several things I could do:
1. Have the seat re-upholstered by a shop and ask them to make it as firm as they can.
2. Consider an aftermarket bucket seat; there are a couple of vendors I've found on the web.
3. Check out the newer Superduty trucks to see if the later generation trucks are more comfortable - assuming a later Ford seat would fit my existing truck.
Anybody else wrestle with this issue? The basic problem seems to be that both the seat and the backrest are too soft. Firmer is better, and I don't mind feeling the road more.

Click on this link. These seats can be ordered with adjustable lumbar support. Had them a good long time now and they're awesomely comfortable yet.

I also visited a local upholstery shop and asked them what it would cost to firm up my existing seats. Not cheap, and I am a bit uncertain they will be able to do exactly what I want.
So before I take the plunge and go with the Corbeau seats, I wonder if anybody can tell me about seat interchangeability with other model Ford trucks? Is it possible I could swap my '03 Lariat seats out and put in something from perhaps an SVT or a Raptor or something else? Are the more sport oriented trucks equipped with more supportive seats?
I suppose it would be difficult to find what I need in a parts yard, but I owe it to myself to check it out before I drop about $1200 for the Corbeau seats.
Any thoughts? Thanks!
Doug
