Started getting sloppy in 1st and 2nd gear and now 1st and second are gone but I still have 3,4,5th & reverse. Is this just forks or is this a rebuild or what?
I also have a 94 f150 300/6 4x4 5 speed. lost 3rd and 4th still had 1st, 2nd, 5th and reverse. Popped the top off the tranny and it was the fork. It had worn the contact area and was skipping over the gear without engaging. new fork cost about 80.00 at the ford dealer took about three hours changing the fork on the dining room table (pissed the wife off but it can be done, would probable cut at least an hour off the time just having a vice. FYI to get the rails to move past their stops to remove the fork, you have to pop it past the stop, (stop is a ball and spring detent).

x2. You beat me to it. Same thing happened to me, but luckly I had a parts tranny.
Nice thanks! I figured forks but always good to have a second opinion. I rebuilt it no more than 40,000 miles ago so it's still pretty fresh and worth fixin
Thanks guys! I'll keep u posted on what I find out when I tear into it and inspect it
