Got this Stanley for Christmas and I thought, great, another flashlight. I pulled both my fuel tanks last week and this flashlight was great. You could set it on the ground and aim it up at what your working on. Or, fold the legs and lay it on something. The head turns 90* for aiming. I can't seem to get a trouble light where ever I need it and this is small enough to get into small spots. The legs hold three double A's for a total of nine double A's.
Cool! I'm a bit of a tool junkie and I have a real softspot for a good flashlight. How long does it run on those 9 AA's? Wonder if they make a corded version. I need a new work light. Among other frustrations on this past Jeep project, the lack of a good work light became rather apparent. I have been using the same Craftsman florescent work lights for years now and I'm not thrilled with them anymore. The light isn't directional enough for some things and they're not overly bright.
is it LED? i am sure there are other better ones out there but i have the LED lenser L7 sold by bass pro and it is amazing! extremely bright, adjustable beam, small/lightweight, and lasts forever! i have had one for over a year and it is still very bright (i use it consistently, i'd say average 3-7 times a week!). course it doesnt have the tripod function, thats a cool feature!
another flashlight i recently got for Christmas is a Streamlight Septor LED Headlamp. it has been extremely handy to have it strapped to my head and i can shine light right where i am looking! this was handy for me the other night looking for my turbo leak. i also used it last week to mend both my main water line and phone line when i hit them with my skidsteer at night. havent used it too long but so far i love it!
thanks for sharing your flashlight opinion. one other question i always have... how is the quality? think it will hold up long term? might have to get one to add to my emergency kit!

I'm a bit of a flashliht junkie myself. I've had a couple of those led lenser flashlights for a while. I love the adjustable focus part, but don't care for the high/low setting on many of their lights.
My most recent purchase has been the most impressive so far. It would be like comparing a bic lighter to a 3D maglite back when that was considered a bright flashlight. http://www.amazon.com/Outback-Black-...6244670&sr=1-6

The Stanley is an LED. The one pictured by Old Bird should have three light levels: one led, two led...three led then off. I happen to work for that company by the way. If you want a real eye burner there is a Stanley that is a tripod but each leg of the flash light can be an individual light which is great for camping etc. They burn up the batteries pretty quick.
HAHA, I was a little hesitant about posting about a flashlight. I can see I'm not the only flashlight junkie! My sister-in-law gave me this one and have grown to love it. Hands free like that head gear one, that's what I like. Today I pulled my HPOP and it helped me to keep an eye on that big washer by the gear. It would be a disaster to drop that. Yes, its a halogen and I don't know how long it will last on the batteries but I would think a long time with nine batteries.
Bought this kit maybe 3 yrs ago and love the flashlight with it. It's fully adjustable and stands by itself. The kit came with 2 lithium ion 18v batteries and I bought 2 more. Holds a charge a long time.
Might look into an LED model Glenn. They don't get near as hot as the halogen models. I've got a good halogen headlamp that I have to turn off and let cool down after about 30 min. in the summer time so it doesn't burn my forehead.
The one thing nice about the stanley You don't hasn't to put all nine batteries in. if you just full one leg your good to go. The more legs you fill the longer it will last. I have four I keep between the camper and house.
