centrifugal supercharger ford Ford FE

What would be a good centrifugal supercharger ford a Ford FE v8?

I was planning on putting it on a stroked out 390, 445 ci. Probably aluminum heads, 9 or 9.5 to 1 comp. holley 770 truck avenger. Lumpy cam. Something in the .550 to .570. Id use it in a truck with a 4speed manual. Not a very good combination (not a speed transmission)but i just would like to know of a super charger that would be compatible.

Might want to give a little more info on what you want to put it on.
What your trying to achieve and how the vehicle will be used?

They specialize in mullets and keystone light or Mopar if you wish, but they make kits for less popular motors too.

Procharger,Paxton ,Vortech are all good blowers. You will need to look on there sites to see if they have a kit to fit your application.
That would be a sweet motor to put a turbo on!

I have had a Vortech V-1 on my stock 351W for ~10 years. I am now rebuilding that motor and plan to put on the V-1 to the new motor as well. My setup sounds very similar to yours except for the block size. I have targeted a 9.5:1 CR with a lumpy cam with 0.560 lift on the cam. This will get me close to my target of 500HP but not all the way there. I think I'll need to do more with air flow before I get there.

But I'd highly recommend Vortech. Haven't had one problem with it since I installed it. It also uses an oil line that feeds into the motor so when you change the engine oil, the supercharger gets new oil as well. When I researched Paxton in the past they had a closed system. That is good because it won't get as dirty as often but I hear it is a pain to change. The most I ever had to do on my Vortech was change the belt when it got worn. Oh, and I also lucked out in that I was able to get an upgraded impeller fan so I went from 3-6 lbs. of boost to 6-9 lbs of boost all for about $600.

Hope this helps.

Id go with a Procharger F1A. Helps fill the larger cubic inch motor more efficiently then the smaller, D1, P1s, etc.

You would have to make a bracket to fit unless Procharger already makes one. You could also get an Air to Air intercooler and a carb hat and your all set.

Turbos wouldnt require the mounting bracket but would need additional piping ran.

Anyone recomend a supercharger for a 1999 F350 V10? I do a lot of heavy towing and have pretty steep Passes. I have a 26' camp trailor that loaded whieghs around 13K and I am getting a boat this winter and will drag that behind the Trailor. So, I love the v10 and I can pull the trailor up the major grade but slowly and had a hard time keeping the RPM's to keep the Tranny cool enough. Also, would a Turbo work? Could get a universale Turbo kit for $1000. A lot of work running and tig welding tubes. But a NEW turbo I could afford, I would have to see if I could find a used Supecharger. Would love a new buut I am disabled and have to live on a SMALL monthly check. until I can get lucky to find a part-time Supercharger fund!.. Anythoughts out there???''

Thanx!

A turbo would be great if you can afford to set it up or have the know-how to do it yourself.
You might also want to add another big cooler to your tranny!

for towing a turbo would probably be better. You get a larger power band and (I think) more torque. That is why turbos are seen a lot on diesel motors vs. gas.

A turbo 390 would be unstoppable. Believe it or not, if you have at least a reasonable mechanical aptitude and basic fab equipment, you can make a turbo kit for far less than buying a supercharger kit. plus you can build one for ANY vehicle without fabbing special brackets for a blower. Just stick the turbo to the exhaust, then hook that to the proper carb (which is the most expensive part unless you build that too), and supply it with oil and bam.

I'll even get you started
Let me google that for you

Here's an example of how simple the basic principal is
Ford F-150 Turbo 300 - YouTube

Another DIY to give you an idea. Very crude and basic but super cool I think.
turbo 460 73 maverick grabber airesearch 92mm ford big block buildup part 1 - YouTube
part 2 turbo 460 maverick 73 grabber big block 92mm buildup - YouTube
first start up 460 turbo blow thru turbo maverick 91mm grabber 73 big block c6 - YouTube
update video 460 turbo big block maverick s475 single 73 grabber street car blow thru carb - YouTube

Anyway, I've been researching turbos for a long time and know for a fact they aren't a scary as a lot of people think. I say go for it. Turbos are the MOST, without exception, efficient power adders. Period. That's why for put them in the new "ECO"boost vehicles. They run off otherwise wasted exhaust energy.

That look pretty good. I have the Mechanical knowledge to do it, it rounding up the maching tools (short of a Dremmel) and a welder to fab parts. Im not looking to make a racer, just enough to pass the desiels going up the pass! I'm sure I could score a used turbo from a 7.3 or dodge to start with. I would like to update my heads and intake to either the 2000+ P.I. heads or convert to a 06 3valve setup. looking into nitrous but its getting the graduale boost instead of a 1 shot and risk tearing the drivetrain up or putting a turbo on it.... And yes, I am definatly puttting a large aftermarket cooler downline of the stock lines with a dedicated fan for a happy tranny!

I'm currently getting parts for my 360 FE to slap a turbo on it. I picked up a tight diesel turbo from a 6.5 L. I also picked up a 750cfm demon carb. It's gonna sit on top of the intake in the back just like PSD's. My only problem is how big of an intercooler should I get? Everything else is in my head and on paper for what I need to get, just not the IC.

If you do some research on the turbo forum you could figure out the ideal size, but I would venture to bet that an IC from any Diesel truck would be sufficient. Im considering doing a carb swap on my 300 I-6 to do a turbo without having to deal with the efi. Im going to call it my baby Cummins
