Side Toolbox

I didn't realize that you could get a toolbox in the bed in these trucks.

Is that a factory instrument cluster because ive sure never seen one like that. Looks like the speedo out of a 67.

It looks just like my cluster, except for the aftermarket gauges. I have a '65 F250 Custom Cab, and I believe the cluster pictured is a stock arrangement. I've seen them configured without the side gauges, so they may have been an option. I also have the bedside toolbox.

I have those exact same stock custom cab gauges. Tool box too. (Very handy!) The ALT & OIL gauges were optional, not only on CC's though. I snagged a spare set off of a standard cab cluster. Fairly uncommon on non-CC's though, I think.

thanks Bill for that info. The 65 i just brought home has the oil and amp gauges with the round speedo while my 64 has just the one center gauge with an aftermarket tach in one of the other holes. That is kinda a neat looking cluster tho.

It just dawned on me that those side tool boxes and the Amp and Oil gauges might be some of the numbers in my DSO code that don't make any sense !

These items have nothing to do with a 6 digit DSO, as they were RPO's = Regular Production Orders.

When a vehicle has a 6 digit Domestic Special Order number, either it was painted a non standard color, or something was installed that wasn't an RPO.

The last 4 numbers are the complete DSO order number. Only when it's decoded can one find out what special parts (or a body), or a paint formula was used.

Sadly, since FoMoCo THREW AWAY all the data that pertains to these trucks, it cannot be determined what was special.

The bedside tool boxes and optional gauges on these trucks could both be factory ordered or dealer installed...You cant reallt tell though until you take thiem apart as the clusters on dealer installed setups are really ugly in some cases...depends on how good one was with the saw and such.
both of these were part of the CS option of which there are 3 packages...gauges are part of number 1 and the toolbox is part of number 3.
Ive got one in need of a new ride for a longbox...
