I am looking for some pictures of instrument panels. I found 2 websites and I am just trying to figure out if I should just install a tac or a whole new dash panel.
Which dash panel do you have? This is the one i have in my truck. I bought a panel with the two small gauge holes and the large hole off ebay and bought a bronco center. That way i can have an aftermarket 2 1/16" tach on the side and my fuel, temp, and oil pressure on the center cluster, then i modified a volt meter to fit the fourth opening on the speedo, now i just need to pick up a vacuum gauge to fill the driver side hole.
This picture was taken before i modified the volt meter
Here's a couple of dashes I've done, one with tack in dash and one with tack on top of dash. If these links don't work just go to my albums and check them out.
So it looks like the first picture is the original dash panel with new gauges in it right? Just adding a tac to the dash seems like the easiest and cheapest way to go. I was looking at dolphin panels and gauges but the speedometer is over 200 bucks with out the other gauges.
You know since the panel is plastic maybe I can just cut a little bigger hole and make one a double gauge and the other the tac so it doesn't have to go on the dash.
Just mounting the tach on the top is the easiest and cheapest. The second pic I did just make a different center section out of plexiglass. Pretty easy to make but the gauges are the biggest expense.
I used a metal screw tie down and some gasket stuff I had so I wouldn't scrap up the column till I do a more permanent placement for it.
It's a tach from a reproduction rally pac for a 66 mustang.
And big zip ties will mount it nicely to the column
1965/66 F100/350: There were SIX different optional tachs available for these trucks, 5 were mounted on the steering column using, depending on the tach:

I like the painted black gauge bezel on the grey/red interior...mine is turning grey and red this winter and I was going to replace with a new chrome one...but this looks much better! (Cheaper too). Also...what buckets did you use? Easy to mount? I was given a set of buckets from a 2003 Mercedes SUV, they look great...but appear to be a real SOB to configure in the truck. Any tips would be overwhelmingly appreciated...
The buckets I used were out of a 90 something BMW. They were pretty easy to install. The seats have a flat power slider and I bolted a set of factory bench seat brackets to each seat and built some brackets for the outside of the seats to level them out. There's also one of the guys on the forum makes brackets for the factory bucket seats. they might work on after market seats also....not sure. This pick sort of shows the bracket, but there are other ways to make brackets. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/p...ictureid=63648
