I'm gonna need tires on my 04 F250XL pretty soon. It has the stock 235/85R16 honestly they look to small on that hulk of a truck. I was thinking of putting on the optional 265/75R16 or 285s? Someone also suggested 255/85R16. But choices in this size seem very limited? I'm confused as to what to use now!! I plan on using the truck mostly on the road and for plowing in the winter. If you guys could post pics of various tire sizes on your trucks it would be GREATLY apperciated!! Also suggestion are welcome. Thanks!!
I had 255/85/16 Cooper's on it at one time but didn't take any pictures. I really liked that size but be fore warned that with the skinny tires you get ZERO flotation so be prepared to sink up and dig through on soft ground.
i personally like the 255/85/16 in the toyo open country MT. they are agressive, have and E-rating, and arent loud. also, narrow tires are better for plowing.
The only lift I'm running is the leveling kit in my signature and F350 rear blocks. I did have to trim the lower valance on the front bumper and space my inner fenders back an inch. After that I've been good to go without rubbing.
Just some Hankook Dynapro ATM 285/75R16's on my 04 F350. They have treated me pretty well. All I have as far as suspension modification is a 2 1/2" leveling kit.
Anybody with the 285s have a rubbing problem?? Since I bought this truck used is there anyway to tell if I have a leveling kit in it?? The truck sits pretty level thats why I ask?
The 305 / 70 's rubbed just a little on the plastic inner fender at close to full lock I put a 2" shackle lift on the front axle and it leveled the truck out and ended the rubbing. But I don't think the 285's will rub unless your springs are pretty tired.
I have 285-75-16 on my early 99 SD and I have no rub or anything. It had 235-85's when I got it. Looked plain goofy to me. I have BFG A/Ts on it and does great in the snow.
The 285 and 305's look much better than the 235's that are on the truck now. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with the 285/75r16. There seems to be a lot of choices for tread designs, Highway to full tilt Mud type tires and everything in between! Thanks to all that responded I really apperciate the pics they make deciding a lot easier!!
