Dynamat
Curious as to the benefits, ease of installation and any possible drawbacks
When I was installing speakers (especially in back) I noticed the poor insulation or total lack of it in many areas...................

Glad the wife puts up with me,,,she walked up during the install, shook her head, laughed and said "could be worse, your mistress could be a 20 year old"

The hardest part was the drivers door,, more disconnects,,,and the crossover box for the JL Audio C3 Component speakers I installed made replacing the door panel a little tight. I removed the factory vapor barrier and re-installed it on top of the dynamat...the easiest part was installing the dynamat,,,very forgiving,,,,just make sure to note where the cut outs are for the door panel inserts and screws and cut them out. I did not cover the screw holes and the vapor barrier shows you where the cut outs are,,,just used a blade to open it up a little.
Very worth while project,, great upgrade for $135,,,easily would have paid twice that..the rear door only took 20 mins each. If you decide to also install inside the door just cut the dynamat in managable strips (I used 1.5' in width), remove backing and double over the foil, or roll,, so the sticky side doesn't touch itself,, hard to separate if it does,,,then insert through the large round opening and apply starting from left to right. I think installing it on both the inside of the door and underneath the door panel makes a huge difference.
When I shut the door now it sounds very solid, like you would expect from a luxury car,,, but the stereo really benefits,,,the sound resonates,,,even at very low levels..when I cut the dynamat I placed t on the cardboard from the box and used a box cutter,,,cut like butter and the cardboard saved the blade, don't have to press too hard
Reps to ya!
