My "new" engine sat in storage for a little over a year before I could install it. Now that it's been running for a week, a few leaks have developed.
A couple are easy to fix (fuel heater leaking out of plug, delete fuel heater; injector return o-rings) but one is a cause of some concern:
The valley pan is wet, and it seems to be coming from the injection pump. Some of it is from a leaking fitting on the filter-pump line, but there also seems to be some fuel coming from the advance cam actuating arm fitting down at the bottom. Is this something that can be resealed, or is it an indication of a larger problem?
A diesel shop should be able to reseal the pump, but the issue will be what caused the leak? Is it simply a seal dried out, aged sort of thing, or is it wear. If it's worn on the shaft then it may need more work.
Not likely the sort of thing that you can redo yourself easily though.
