Talking Seats and engines!

I have a 77 stepside f150 and I was wondering what years are interchangeable because I would like to swap out my old bench seat and throw in something newer with more back support like a split bench seat that has the fold down center console from a 90s ranger or something or would I have to fab up some mounts to make it fit

Also my second question is how do you go about or rather how many things to you have to change out if you want to do a swap from a 400m to say a late 90s up to mid 2000s powerstroke preferably the 7.3 like fab work and changing things like the suspension and axles, the whole drivetrain, what to do about a computer system that all the newer trucks have things like that or would it be easier to just throw in a crate engine or just have my engine rebuilt again. I would prefer the powerstroke obviously for more power and the better gas milage and because everything is going diesel anyways and its not something I am going to do right away just something im looking forward to in a couple of years I want to get all the homework done so there is no guessing when I get down the line.

THANKS AGAIN GUYS!!

its alot of work and your only gonna get maybe 19 mpg if you baby it. i did a 1st gen 5.9 cummins in my 79 crew cab and i get 23 mpg easy and only one wire to operate it. no computer and FORDCUMMINS.COM has everything available for you to do the swap.

For the bench seat, u can use one out of any 73-96 full size trucks, along with the '97 F250/F350...all u have to do is swap seat tracks. I put a seat out of a 1989 in mine, very comfortable...

sucks that a pwrstroke is more difficult of a swap than cummins, I'd much rather have a Powerstroke in a Ford. JMO

You may want to try using the search function in the upper right of the forum, both of these topics have been discussed in incredible detail several times before, and you will see pictures in some of the threads regarding the diesel swap that will be helpful.

yes it is has turbo stock. lets put it this way i spent 15$ on a govonor spring and turned some screws on my pump. with 5spd zf and 4.10 on 33s against my bros 96 7.3 with a chip and stage 2 injectors(1800$ total) and we are dead even in a drag till about 65 where mine just revs out haha but a power stroke is what i was thinking of doing in a 2wd single cab eventually

well I didnt really think of doing a diesel swap until I realised how bad of an idea it was to change out my stock intake manifold and 2 barrel carb and threw in an aftermarket intake and 4 barrel carb i used to get about 15 mpg if i kept it at 55 now i am getting maybe 12 and that adds up when i drive 65 miles a day round trip for just work, and seeing the Pretty Penny on Youtube made me consider the swap even more

Either way it might be worth tuning the 4 bbl. I bet it could be dialed in to run as efficiently as the 2 bbl. If there is a dyno tune shop nearby that's carb savy it may be money well spent.

4 barrel carbs usually yield better mileage due to the fact that the primaries are usually smaller. It sounds like you just don't have the carb tuned right, or your driving with a lead foot and opening up the secondaries all the time.

I know they are supposed to get better gas mileage however I don't know if its a vacuum leak or something because every once and awhile it makes a popping sound not like a backfire or anything just like its getting too much air or something, so maybe that has something to do with it.

your threads are pretty awesome and that interior is amazing and the outside looks to be in great shape also...your like the best thing from Canada ever if any Canadian should be dating Selena Gomez it should be you screw that little Justin Beiber...LOL! Also just curious but how much roughly did it cost for your interior ..with seats and stereo, equalizer, gauges included...

Guess which seat frame is from a '75 F100 Super Cab and
which seat frame is from a '91 F150 Super Cab. ;)

Guess which one sucked donkey dick on a long trip! ;)

The missing springs ain't no accident, the factory didn't put
holes/slots for the springs they left out.

Fixed! :)

Many people complained about the seat before. Recently
a different bunch of people commented on how -extra-
comfortable the seat felt. LOL :)

YMMV

All I can do is present the facts the best I can, it's up to
you to do something about 'em, ...or not.

ps- The '91 F150 Super Cab seat is now in a '91 Bronco
with a ZF in front of it.

seat

i installed a seat out of a 2001 ford truck in my 78, used the 78 slider and bolted two pcs of 1"x2" rectangle tubing to the sliders and bolted the new seat to the tubing. very comfortable and factory looking other than being gray, rest of my interior is brown.
