Hi all
You guys and gals are always the go to for answers so here goes
Horn and lights , all lights, dash, turn signals, headlights, overheads, etc, as well as the horn start flashing and horn is constantly sounding, also needles are jumping. Horn burns out and needs replacing, Dealer replaces horn and cannot replicate flashing. Dealer also says corrosion on positive battery cable and remedies that. So far so good. A week goes past and same thing happens again. Son who is driving and is a genius removes horn fuse. Solves problem of horn. Starts truck and no lights flash. Take truck to dealer and they put fuse in and cannot replicate any problems. They think it might be security system related but do not want me to spend $488 not to have that fix it. They have the truck for the weekend and will see what happens. Any ideas. It is a 2002 v 10 with 77000 easy miles on it. Thanks for your input and sorry for the long story.
i wasnt under the impression that Excursions had factory alarms.. You should pull the knee cover and see if an aftermarket one is lurken around. If it has one and you dont have a remote for it then it should be pulled. Other then that.. ive never come across that kind of electrical problem with mine or any other super duty.
Have owned it since new and has no mods at all. Silly as this sounds I hope the problems turn up this weekend while the dealer tech has it. Thanks for the suggestion.
So the dealer drives it all weekend and nothing. My son picks it up and you guessd it 20 miles away from the dealer it all happens again. Out comes the horn fuse and we are right back where we started. Dealer says bring it back and I say why???? Could it be a faulty headlight switch, or horn connection, or????????????????????
Any HELP is appreciated.
That sounds like quite a stumper gremlin. Sorry I have no other advice but this...have you checked for water leaking from the windshield down on to the back of the fuse panel? It creates intermittent shorts and can fry the computer. Do a search on the forum for this common problem. I hope it helps. That sounds really frustrating.

How did you not laugh in his face? Corrosion at the battery cable causes circuits to suddenly close?
I mean, I know car design is always improving, but the only thing I've ever heard corrosion causing is poor charging/discharge and acid tearing up the battery and battery tray.
