Anyone have any ideas where to start with this? Every few days when I try to start my truck I just get a single click sound, with no start. After I try the key a few more times it will start right up on one of the turns. The click sound is under the hood somewhere. Batterys are new, alternator is fine, connections to battery seem ok. It's intermittent, so it's hard to tell whats going on. Thanks for any ideas

If all the battery connections are clean and tight, as well as the connections on the starter, it is either the starter relay on the inside of the rt fender near the battery or it is the starter itself. The fender relay is around $20.
Sounds like an issue with the starter. The bolts may have backed out a little and you are losing ground. If the bolts are tight it may be best to take the starter off and get it tested. If the starter is bad just get it rebuilt. Remember that the large power wire is always hot and will spark if you put a wrench on it touch a ground.
Thanks for the info!! I will check all of those out
If you take your starter off, disconnect the batts and be very careful not to damage the small wire post when taking it off and putting it on, it will twist out of the housing if you are not careful and put to much ummph into it.
Thanks for the help guys, I have a feeling it's a loose starter. I put the DB hitorque starter in and one of the bolts is hard to reach to tighten, so I'll check that first. Man that's a great starter!!
Well, checked starter and it's all snug and tight. Battery connectors all tight. Starter relay works. There is another condition that might be related to this occasional no-start/click. When I turn the key off the engine will sometimes keep running for a few seconds before it stops, even after I pull the key out. Im guessing the problem's in the ignition somewhere, any ideas how to pull it apart and check it out?
