starting problem

i have a 89 f250 4x4 with 5 speed trans.

its been having a rough time starting up for the past few days. so i bought a new battery. then two days ago it started to start up fine on its own. then yesterday i turned it off and it wouldnt start back up. we tried jumping it, which didnt do anything. i bought a new starter and put it on, and tried jumping it again, and it still wouldnt start. put the old starter back on, my friend and i pushed it and my gf put it into gear and dropped the clutch and it started up and since then it didnt give me a hard time starting up, until later last night. i started it and drove to a store and turned it off, then it wouldnt start back up again. so i pushed it and my gf put it into gear again and it started, i got home and turned it off, then this morning it wont start again. i cant figure it out. i tried putting the battery right to the starter but it still wont start. everytime i turn the key the starter just clicks once thats it. please help me figure this out

Sounds like a bad connection or bad starter relay. Make sure the battery connections are clean and tight. Follow the main battery ground wire to where it bolts to the engine, make sure the connection there is good.
Look on the pass side inner fender and you should see the starter relay, make sure the connections to it are tight. Check the connections to the starter, making sure the light gauge wire is firmly connected.
Try jumping the two large terminals on the fender mounted starter relay, if the starter then runs the relay could be bad.
