Painted grille
I've seen colour matched TT mirrors and doors handles, and I plan on doing my own this summer. I've also seen painted "XL" grilles.
Has anyone painted the grey/silver part of an "XLT" grille and left the chrome surround? Any pix available?
I'd do a search, but the galleries are just too big.

I painted the whole XL grill but I've seen many others with the chrome left chrome and the grey parts painted to match the body.
I really like that look! But I do not know of any available pictures... sorry...

where did you find matched door handles? I know ford probably has 'em because of the king ranch, but i don't want to ask the parts department how much they are in fear of laughing at them again!! Putting on the white painted door handles is next on the list. Jason.

Painted grille
I painted my grill to match the truck (white). It came out really nice. I hope to have some pics posted in the next couple of weeks. I also painted the V-Gate and am working on getting the mirrors painted also. The texture on the mirrors of the XLT is whats causing the problems. I am working with a local paint shop to find out what will stick and have some durability. I'll keep you posted.

having the paint shop do the original handles is ok? I can just see paint coming off because of the high use/contact of the handle. I thought i was just going to replace all four with factory stuff. always a wealth of info here. Thanks.

You could also order Excursion handles as they come painted to match. Then just slap them on and not have to worry about paint not adhering.
Krylon just came out with a spray paint that is specifically for plastic. They claim there is no sanding or scuffing needed, just a direct application. I'm going to try this with my old XL grill and see how well it works.
