That made it easier for him to produce cars faster, had nothing to do with the birth of GM. Ransom Olds also had a hand in getting a production line going.
At least you are driving yours. I work a couple days a week at the local wrecker. My regular job is weekends. This job at the wrecker keeps me in parts and trucks it seems. Four trucks so far and numerous parts.
A 79 Bronco arrived during the spring/summer. Well it kind of grew on me to say the least. The only problem is it was taken off the road by the local law in 2003. Getting it registered in my name was a whole different matter.
I keep asking myself why did I have to fall in love with the stupid thing.
I want to get it legal by summer so I can pull off the top and enjoy the sun.
I would not be able to work at junkyard, all my paychecks would go for parts found there, or on vehicles
Jim
I paid him money for my 75 F150. At the time he had a 66 Merc. I said I would like to have that too. He said well for xxx dollars more you can have it. I said I want both, why not put me to work for the 66. I went to pick up my 75 and he said ya I probably have something you can do. The rest is history.
The only cash that changed hands is for the 75. I work for parts and trucks. So far I have:
66 Merc
Cab and box and front clip for the 75
1965 Merc
1979 Bronco
Keys to the yard so I can get in (only open from spring till fall)
Any parts for the above within reason.

Ya i follow Encho, It just didn't seem disrespectful mainly because nobody said anything, nobody told me to take it off and nobody told me to change it. The son just came out of the blue and told me, i wasn't really angry or anything it made sense and i was kind of waiting for them to say something but they didn't. Now i where a ski hat with a Mohawk and haven't gotten any complaints. Some people say it looks goofy but i got it from a friend for xmas so i figure ill keep my head warm. As for WHY i wear a hat, a lot of it is to block the sun during summer and rain during fall, When you wash cars for a living you get sprayed quite a bit either by yourself or by a co worker so it's nice not to always get hit in the face. I also used to wear a for sweatshirt under the jacket they gave us but that was because i didn't have another jacket to wear and the ones they give don't do s**t in the cold. Now i mainly wear my carhartt.
I was a certified service technician at 3 GM dealerships over a 10 yr period.....never had a GM vehicle but once....and it was a 1970 stepside 4wd truck....good ole truck....but never liked GM much......sure paid the bills though....it was a good honest living ! I know the most about them....and had them apart more than anything.......must be like living on a golf course and not playing.....
Ya i have been working here for about 1 year and 5 months and i wouldn't really recommend buying a GM vehicle... We have a few that i see in the shop a lot for tranny work and steering rack replacement....
I owned a 1990 Pontiac Firebird, and it was the best vehicle I have ever owned. I kick myself every time I think about the day I traded it in on a Jeep Cherokee Limited that turned out to be needing fuel injectors, and an alternator. One of the biggest mistakes of my life was getting rid of that Firebird.
Nice pictures zip, old n rusty is how i likem. My boss has a firebird that i guess he got brand new and it's a vert. If i can i'll get a few pics tomorrow.
