A CD changer in the center? Our old 98 Exp had that but our 05 X had the 5 disc in dash, but then we got the double din....I dunno what to tell you about that setup sorry
Yeah, the 2000's didn't have the 6 disc in dash yet and instead had a changer mounted vertically inside the front of the center console.
Has anyone ever tried the tube style enclosures in the back along the sides? I would think if you can find a good placement of those they'd take up a minimum of space.
Stealth box is nice but the $650 is a bit steep, for a single 10" LOL
But it's JL. It's worth it. Have you ever heard a quality sub? I'm not trying to start anything. I'm just trying to tell you that you will get what you pay for. If you poy $150 for a sub, It's junk and will sound like crap. However, if the rest of your system is all stock and you just want a little bit of bass, then you can go cheap.

I though the same thing, but like Racer said JL is actually throwing one of their quality woofers in there. Its too bad it wasn't offered with a 12, that'd be about perfect but obviously air volume is an issue. That's why I miss the old Phoenix Gold X-Max line of subs. Those things could work and sound great in shockingly small enclosures. I bet an X-max 12 would work great in that box but who's going to cutting up a $650 box?
I just got done installing a 300 watt Fosgate 10" powered sub in mine and I'm truly impressed. For the size of the sub and box it puts out impressive sound. They also offer it in a 12". It really take much room in the cargo area.
Stuart, I meant the online only stores like ebay and so on. JL is very specific who they let be dealers. No warranty unless purchased through a dealer.

I went a different route. Did not want to lose any cargo space. I flipped the spare around backwards, modified the mount, formed a fiberglass box that fits inside the spare tire that will hold a 10" sub. It is loud enough for me and has a nice tight sound output. I am currently just using the stock spare. I am running 35" tires so the spare could limp me along in a emergency. I thought about getting a fifth 35" tire with 18" rim. I could mold a larger box into that rim. Here is the sub mounted. My box ended up being 6.5" deep. I do not remember the airspace I ended up with but it was more than the minimum needed for my sub.
Here is what the back of the sub enclosure looks like. I used wing nuts to secure it to the tire. I can reach around behind the tire to tighten them.
I put a 10 in each rear door. I love that I can have my whole back area for storage. Especially on camping trips. I am going to put my amps in the spare tire space once I get a new back number with the tire rack built on. I have seen some nice ones on here. The cost to have the subs built into the door was not that great. Subs included it was 400.00.

Nice. I like how you didn't looses your spare. I also have 35's so my spare isn't much good hence the reason I want to get a rear number with the spare holder built onto it.
