Yet another clutch question

I'm wondering if I will have any issues running an 11" clutch and flywheel for a 1983 F-350 mounted to a 1979 crank. Both applications are externally balanced, so I dont see a problem with it. The pressure plate is a diaphram style and the whole mess will be inside a 351/400 bellhousing. I can get the Sachs brand flywheel and clutch set from oreilly autoparts for like $300. Also, what are the pros and cons to a ceramic button disc? Thanks for the help.

$300 is a little high. You could piece a 12" set up together for less if you get a reman clutch. Summit sells ext. bal. flywheels for around $100, and thats what I'd do. IMO a 11" clutch is a little small if you are going to wheel it some and tow in a heavy 4x4 like that. The 12" is going to do better. I think a 11" diaphragm psi plate should work from what I found. The Long style psi. plate takes up too much room & will not work. The diaphragm takes up a lot less room in there. I'd check that psi plate for fit on the flywheel. I've never seen/found a factory FE flywheel that was drilled for a diaphragm. I'm not saying they can't be out there, just I have never came across one.

The only reason I thought to use the 11" instead of 12" is because I thought I might have clearance issues with the 12", but now that I think about it, I think the 400's used a 12" clutch and the 351's used an 11". That may not be right. Anyway, I looked on summit's website and they don't list any externally balanced flywheels for a 460, or am I looking for a flywheel off a different motor? Is there any way you could get me a part number of something? I really appreciate the help.
