So I spent the last hour trying to get the exhaust loose from the manifolds to pull the oil pan. I think I'll let 'em soak awhile. One broken stud and one u-joint is enough!
Damn. Sorry to hear that. Based on what we've gone over, I really didn't think that a rod would be doing that. Guess it's possible if the parts got hot enough and your oil pressure fell off from thinning out, etc....
That one bent pushrod is still buggin me, though. I'm still wondering if the valve didn't hang or the lifter pumped up, causing brief valve contact with the piston (lotta maybe's here). Well, hopefully the rod bearing is still intact and didn't screw up the journal. If the noise had a double tap to it, could mean some damage to the wristpin as well. While you're in there, check the cylinder wall for evidence of piston skirt scuffing.
