i have an f 250 sd with rear airbags and i want to do a 4 in lift but i was wondering if this clashes with the airbags. i would love to lift it and keep the airbags they really help with loads. the airbags do not have an onboard compressor but i dont think that matters. i just want to know what i have to do before i drop 800 bucks into a lift.
Totally doable.
The best way is to use taller airbags (triple bellow) so that you also get a lot more wheel travel, but far and away the most common method is to just put a spacer between one end of the airbag and whatever it's mounted to. Start by checking the website of the manufacturer of your airbags. They should have mounts.
The Firestone set I used came with adjustable brackets between the axle and bottom airbag mount. Not sure if they would have worked for 4", but definitely as much as 3".
DO NOT use lock and lift spacers. I went through 3 sets of them on my 06 Dodge Power Wagon the tabs that lock them together kept breaking. I ended up using steel spacers from Tuff Country and they worked 100% better. They come in a range of different sizes from 2in all the way up to 8in.

I apologize for the troubles you had with our product. I will forward this information onto our design group. Hopefully they can take your experience and at least improve the product for future customers.
i do have firestones so i will have to look into the official kit. so i will have to look into that. i probly wont do it til spring anyway to cold to work outside. thanks for the info.
I was able to find information on the bolt pattern for Firestone's air bag. As I believed they do have the same bolt spacing for the bottom, the bolt holes are 2.75" apart on our bags and theirs.

I am also curious on this subject. I put 5 in blocks on my f250 and i would love to get air bags some day.
If you get the airbags that mount on top of your leaf springs and mount to the outside of the framerails then it won't matter what size blocks you have because the spring is still in the same position!
