My truck is a 1990 with a 351, i know its old, and i knew it was going to have issues, but not one as strange as this. Every time it rains, my truck will run like total crap, it boggs horribly, and feels like it has 1/8th of the power it normally has but only for about 20 minutes after starting it. This is even if it rains, and i drive it days later in the summer where any water should have evaporated. What in the world could be causing this?
You mite try puttin' some dielectric grease around the dist.cap where it sits on the base. That may help to keep any moisture from gettin' in there. Did that to mine cause I like drivin' thru big puddles.Used to stomp in 'em when I was a kid,now I drive thru 'em.
When it runs bad is there visible water under the hood ? on the motor? .... Where did it come from ...front end, wheel wells? Next time just BEFORE it rains cover it all (electrical) over with W(water) D(dispersion) 40 and see if that changes anything ...it has bailed(no pun intended) me out before good luck!!!
I agree with the others ... this is a great time for a 6L tune up !!!
