Fuel Pressure.?.?.

I have a 2002 bone stock f250... I just installed a mechanical fuel pressure gauge and was wondering what kind of readings I should see.
at idle
driving around town
wide open
etc
Too low pressure... Too high pressure

btw. my gauge is post filter so it sees after the filtration has already taken place.

Thanks

PSI

I have an upgraded spring in my FPR, but i run right around 64, 67 if its 0 or colder out as the fuel seems to be a little thicker at startup, as it warms, back to 64. bone stock i would say you should be in the 55 - 60 range most of the time.

Well crap!

Talking to Jody at DP tuning just asking questions about fuel he says my pressure is WAY too high...

My problem is that I am like 80 psi at idle... and wot like 62 ish.. driving around town is 70ish.

What do I do to get it back where it should be.?.?.

FP

I have seen a few cases where the seat behind the FPR is worn and sticking, and another case where it was the stand pipe in the fuel bowl sticking. I guess another possibility would be some blockage in the return line from the FPR back to the tank, but I haven't experienced that.

How many miles on the truck?

If the spring is cocked it will cause high fuel pressure.

157,xxx miles on the truck

It "appears" to be bone stock... paper air filter.. stock exhaust... it does have the 3 little spring leveling kit on the front... but other than that... she seems just like it rolled off the show room floor.?.?.

I thought about poping the FPR off and see if it has been shimmed or if the spring is messed up or something.... I guess that would be a good start.?.?.

ya

That would be definitely a good place to start. besides looking for a shim, you could pull that seat out ans see if it is worn with any flat sides etc. Kind of a pain in the truck, but doable, just watch out for the spring flying etc.

A second option would be to get Guzzles rebuild kit and go through the whole thing on the bench, much easier, and then no worries with leaks later as you will have the good o-rings through out.

people always report varying pressures at idle or WOT. Old green sits right @ 70 no matter what.
