Was able to get a few things accomplished with the holiday weekend here.
Dropped of the heater core to the repair shop - and although he could not find a leak anywhere - he is going to flush it out and see if it makes a difference. So it will be next week before I get it back.
I have the cam bearings but the engine shop was closed today (what?!?) so I will have to get it to them so I can get the block back to start rebuilding the engine.
I was able to get the rear brake lines installed:
Getting the rims ready to be painted:
The rims were painted Sheridan Blue (the truck will be this color):
The 'widowmaker' spare (black) next to the painted rim.
The lighting makes it look a little darker than it is.
I started doing body work on the cab and will continue that for some time.
Took the horn apart, tested it, cleaned it and powder coated it - works like a charm!
Bought this heater and stripped it down. Tested the motor (works great!) and dropped the heater core off to be tested and no issues with it. Took all of the parts to the powder coater and here is the before and after:
The heater and horn look great! I worked on getting the box off my truck yesterday, but ran out of oxygen before I could get the last two bolts cut...damn.. LOL
Spent the day on the cab pounding out metal, adding a little bondo, sanding, sanding, and oh - sanding.... There will be a lot of body work on the cab, fenders and bed - but I expected that.
The top of the cab is almost 100% - the areas around both front and back windows are 100%, and the cowl area is 100%. The dash is ALMOST 100% as I need to do some minor work around the radio cut out area.
I need to do some work now on the lowers of the cab (as you can see in the pics). There was metal work done and I will clean that up as well as I progress.
First off - Merry Christmas!!
I spent the day working on the truck - so it was my 'present' to myself!
Body work, body work, body work...
Sorry the pics did not come out better - but it gives you an idea.
I concentrated on a few areas and now they are almost glass!! I have still a lot of work to do on the cab and that will be where most of my time is spent for the next few weeks as I only get a few hours a week to work on it....
I am a total noob when it comes to older Ford trucks, but have been bitten by the bug and contracted the " Must Have" virus.
So in a couple of weeks I am off to south of Sweden to look at a 50 F1 for sale.
I have read and admired the entire thread, you seem to be doing great.
An observation on the powdercoating of the rims:
I was the happy owner of a MB 220 SE Coupe 61 for 45 years, drove it 230.000 miles and restored it thrice. The last time I had the rims powdercoated, and had masked off the seating surface that goes against the hub flange.
At the first testdrive after a complete overhaul there was a very pronounced front wheel wobble when braking hard from 80 mph.
The suspension was all new parts? . So I took wild chance and ground off the powder coat paint in the conical recesses in the rims for the wheel bolts ( lug nuts in US?).
Wheel wobble gone, never came back.
Might be worth doing before assembly of your truck) and good luck with the job.
