Wiper Problems
Ok im working on my father inlaws 1992 f150 it didnt have no low beam lights only high beam , i took the wiper - dimmer -turn signal switch apart and cleaned the contacts .Low beams work now but wipers will not turn off and washer pump is running even after i unplug the wires from switch it continues to run til i turn ign switch off .How is it running with switch unplugged ?????

Maybe when you cleaned it you created a bridge and it's shorting something inside, i hope you didn't put the part before you let it dry. Try a new switch, since it could be the easiest choice.

I got some wiper problems too. Ive replaced the switch and the motor, still the same thing, only works on high setting, no low or intermittent, my washerfluid pump doesnt work either (which sucks in salty road conditions because I have to stop frequently at gas stations to clean the windshield.

You need a new wiper speed governor for your 1987, or you need to open it up and solder the broken connections.
This is a black plastic 2.5" cube usually bolted to the top of the parking brake bracket.
The switch plugs into it, and it plugs into the harness under the dash.

You can usually hear the washer pump if it is working.
If it is, then the little nozzles in the cowl can be plugged, or the washer fluid has crystallized in the line.
I pin can clear the nozzles and an air hose can purge the lines back to the fluid reservoir.
If the motor is not working check for power to the plug when the **** is depressed.
I swapped my motor before realizing that the wires were broken where they enter the plug at the motor.

When repairing the electrical govenor, DO NOT bolt it back down. Wrap it with foam rubber, put tape around the foam to hold it on, and just push it somewhere out of the way. The park brake releases very hard on these trucks. The controller is mounted just above the park brake rubber stop, and it will shake the insides of the controller apart after years of the brake pedal banging against the stop. Apply the brakes and release them and see how hard the pedal hits the stop. The whole dash will jump.
