Have had many that are clueless say yes and many that are informed say no!
No Mustang or any other FoMoCo Passenger Car wheel of any year will fit an F100, as their bolt circle patterns are different.

5 lug wheels on a 5.50" bolt circle: 1940/47 Commercials (1/2 tons) / 1948/52 F1 / 1953/79 F100 / 1966/96 Bronco / 1969/74 E100/200 / 1975/96 F150 / 1975/2012 E100/150 / Some 1980/83 F100's.

Many Passenger Cars have 5 lug wheels, either on a 4.50" or 5.00" bolt circle. Wheels could be either 14" or 15." Late model Passenger Cars have metric wheels as do all 1997 thru today F150's.

1977: Ford introduced Styled Steel and Styled Aluminum wheels for F100/150's, E100/150's, Bronco's got 'em in 1978. These styled wheels and variations thereof were used thru 1996, thru today on E150's.

These styled wheels will bolt on 1957/76 F100's.

You can do anything you want to a vehicle. All it takes is money. As Bill stated the bolt circle is different. Just out of curiousity why not buy the wheels with the correct bolt circle. If you have to have 'Mustang" wheels plan on spending money to do it. If you want Mustang style wheels should be no big deal finding a supplier that will drill them to your bolt circle. Just remember they will be pretty much worthless if you ever want to sell them with a 5x5.5 bolt circle.

They are not a direct bolt on either. You can buy adapters to put the Mustang wheels on. Best price I found was either $86 each or $86 for a pr. Don't remember. You also have the issue of backspacing since the late model Mustangs have a wide hub to hub and your truck is much narrower.

Unless the F150 wheels bolt circle pattern was redrilled, the wheels cannot be from a 1997, because this was the first year F150's went to metric wheels, have a 135mm bolt circle pattern.

However, if the 'chrome' wheels are from a 1997 E150, the bolt circle pattern is 5.50" because...no Econoline uses metric wheels, including E250/350's that have 8 lug wheels on a 6.50" bolt circle.
