Very good question, I was wondering the same thing. You have to watch your hub offset. If you go to deep it will get in to the frame in back. Some times you can go to a tire/wheel shop and they can help fit. You will have more problem with the front hitting when you go lock-to-lock. So you may have to keep the smaller wheels in front. As to actual size, I think the 8" will fit the back, but not the front.
What you'all are saying is that ANY factory ford wheel with 5.5 spacing from
80 to 91 will fit? Best may be 15 X 7 on front, 15 X 8 on rear? I'll be going to a salvage yard to find them.
On wheel sets you have 3 numbers. 1 is tire size, 13" ,14" ,15" , 16" ....
Then you have lug spacing 5.5", 6". This is measured from center to center of 2 holes while skipping 1 hole.
Then there is offset. Offset is the amount the wheel lug is from center. So + 1" means it sticks out 1" meaning on a 8" rim you will have 3" on one side and 5" on the other side. May be wrong on which way the + and - readings shift the hub.
So on the rear you could shift the wheel out further and not get into the finder, frame or leaf springs. Call a tire or wheel store they have a book telling them what will fit.
So make sure you check offsets.
I think there is a minumn clearance of 1" due to tire movement.
Gentlemen, I have run the silver wagon wheels on my 66, that came on 86-early 90s F series and Broncos. I have seen our series trucks with both the alum & chrome Ford wheels from early 90s to 96 when the bolt pattern changed. I doubt you would have any issues with either 7.5 or 8" unless they were very offset. I checked the galleries and found this link https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...?albumid=28705 to show the wheels that I ran. 2wd & 4wd are the same.

my experience has been that the back tires hit the bottom of the bed right above the frame and pop before getting a chance at the frame, there's leaf springs between the tires and the frame.
