Oh man that kinda sucks. I actually ran into this problem today but mine was the ground cable being funky. Have you looked at your ground cable for any melted holes? I don't know about the 93 but mine was bolted right under the alternator and must have rested on something to get it hot.
I don't think the key has to be in order for it to cranks when you bypass does it? I know in 78 it didn't but i don't know about 93... Well all you can do Jim is test test test
Key does not have to be on to crank, just to start....but with the issues that are not working for him, I would also duplicate some tests with the key on and off....just in case.....
Okay, will try bypassing the solenoid with the key on tomorrow. Also, i want to check with test light, and voltmeter. However, IIRC I had 12v going to the solenoid, so maybe the issue is after the solenoid. Going to try to follow the cables, but I can't get under the truck. So I don't know how well that will go.
Hahaha i hear that, I am almost on empty and have to wait till friday to get paid. I have money in savings but i try not to touch it as mush as possible
