Superduty Remotes

Does anyone know if the system for the remote door locks on say a 2000 Superduty is its own separate system that could be removed independently of the rest of the electronics? I want to put electronic doorlocks on my truck and would like to use ford remotes if possible.

The receiver for the remotes is built into the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) on a 2000.

I would just install a good alarm system. You get remote door locks and a bunch of additional protective features that way. The remotes aren't any larger than Ford's.

I suppose you could pull a GEM out of a 2000 and use it with Ford remotes to achieve what you wish to do.

The attached PDF shows you how you could do this.
