I hate it when this happens, but I have a coil breaking down, and I've been advised multiple times to not replace all 8 coils. So how do I figure out which one it is? I am almost sure its a coil, as the plugs do not have enough miles on them to be bad already, and the truck has plenty of power it just has a slight studder under a load, and the engine light will occasionally flash. Seems to go away after a bit. However I can't get it to throw a code for whatever is causing the issue. Any ideas? 2004 Ford F150 146k miles on it
Same issues here. You MAY be able to hear the COP making a clicking noise of you use a mechanic stethoscope of use a long handle screw driver. If it's making the clicking noise, it's good, BUT may be starting to go bad.
I got tired of chasing the problem, so ordered all 8 from partstrain.com and ended the madness!
ya in that case i wldnt either. i was in ur situation year ago and mine finally threw a code after a long *** time. it was pissing me off, light wld flash but cld never get a code. so i took my OBDII scanner with me and light came on i pulled over right away an was able to get code. misfire cylinder 6, got 1 new coil and was like new. my scanner stays in truck now
Yeah right. These motorcraft plugs have less then 8k on them, I am not changing them again. Found some weapon X coils guess I'll go that route.
Good luck with those coils Complete waste of money and have very bad failure rate just like accel and msd. When it comes time for coils most of us buy them from UNEEKSUPPLY on Ebay. The coils are great and the price is right! Hundreds of us have bought them and for $70.00 a set its worth it

My buddy with a 06 used weapon x coils, we took it to a place called speedy dyno down here before, and then we put the coils on in the parking lot, he picked up 12 HP at the rear wheels from his first two runs, it was consistent to. Hes got nearly 66k on them without issue so far (he travels A LOT). I don't care about the extra ponies 70 bucks and you say they are reliable I would buy them that is for sure.
I have been chasing a front end vibration that on the surface would seem to be a tire balance problem, but I have had them balanced and rotated a couple of times to no avail. Tires are Micheling AT/2. The problem seems worse sometimes than others and sometimes disappears altogether. Do you think this could be related to a bad coil(s)? No codes yet.
Also, there are several coil options found at UNEEKSUPPLY. One set in particular is identified by the Ford P/N. Any idea of the brandname?
