Yeah I thought like that too but a friend of mine had his buddies go up in smoke and dang near burnt his house down. He brought pics to work fried the truck real good too. Its a simple thing on the CC swich of the brake cyl. They can do it while you wait. But it helps to be antsy about how long will it take. Call in advance and tell them you have a schedule to make.
Yeah i got the recall about a month ago. Didnt think of anything but ive seen some pics of what our trucks look like when it fails. So i going in monday to get mine fixed guy said less then 20 mins.
get the thing done thats all i can say seen pics and not good, all it is, is a jumper harness that has a fuse in line of both wires going to the brake pressure switch on the master cylinder, the switch starts leaking and it has constant ground and power so when the flewed causes a shorts it melts both wires and starts a fire. i install them all the time and it only takes 5 min. no harm to the truck just saves you a giant headache and money.
i work for ford dealer in butte,mt and yes do it dont be like that saying well i dont need it bc if it does catch fire its ur flaut for not getting the recall it takes about 5 mins to do its a harness that plugs into the master cyl and then to the stock plug it has two fuses on it, ive domne it to my 99 and 97!!!!!

x 2 i didnt see this till after i posted mine!!!!! ive done about 10 of them this month so far lol
I had mine done also. Only thing I did was redo their zip ties. To make it look nicer under the hood. I had also read that the trucks can catch fire easily without this fixt, so that was enuff for me to get mine done. I likes my truck a bit too much to watch her burn up cuz of my laziness.
I live so far from a dealership that it took years for me to get it done. Since our small town Ford shop closed its doors years ago I could not get it done and Ford would not send me the part. Had to take my daughter to a specialist in a town with a Ford dealership and called ahead of time to set up an appointment while she was at her appointment. Took them 2 minutes to put in the additional wiring harness and zip tie it in. Glad to have it done finally.
well i had mine done. ive been going years without cruise control.....and now i have it back. over the past year ive been having VSS issues so i thought that was causing myCC issues. in what ways did they help me other than preventing my truck to burn to the ground.
I just got back from the dealer and had the recall taken care of. Real nice folks at Mullinax in Palm Beach Gardens (West Palm Beach, FL). They said every thing checks out.
