I am thinking about purchasing an intake for my 2012 F350. I am looking for a little more whistle from my turbo, maybe a minor gas mileage increase and maybe some power. Are there videos anywhere or does anyone have any legitimate info on the big options (i.e. AFE, Airiad, K&N, S&B, Banks, etc.)... I have been looking at the AFE and the S&B so far, but not for any good reasoning.
I put the AFE on. You can hear the turbo a little more but don't expect anything like a straight piped 6.0. It's a nice throaty sound though. I think maybe I get .5-1 mpg improvement.
It's the stage 7 filter, housing fits nicely and the new intake pipe going to the turbo is very well made and fits perfectly. I like it. Had on now for 22,000 miles with no issues or check engine light.
Some people say to leave the stock intake on. Something about too much cold air decreases fuel mileage and makes it harder for the engine to maintain temp in the winter. Couple guys swear they lost mpg from putting a CAI on.
Not sure if it's true, but it does make sense.
Anyone know for sure what's best, stock or aftermarket cold air intake?
This is great information... Thanks for your help so far. Anyone have any information on the S&B intake or the Banks (which has been repeatedly mentioned as overpriced).
I love my s&b. Install was quick and easy. There is definitley a difference in how the engine sounds and you can hear the turbo a little more as well. No cel and my mpg pretty much seems the same maybe an increase of 1 mpg but definitley not worse. Overall I'm happy
Do any of the tuners require or specify a a certain intake? I'm still debating about the DPF delete, but I may try and go for a DPF back in the meantime, but I can't seem to find a kit that allows me to add the DPF delete and/or downpipe to an already existing DPF back. Wish Pro-Flo made the DPF back so I could then get the remaining later if I decide to...
