How Dumb Is This?
Ah yes. Reminds me of an instance a few (ok, quite a few) years ago... I was in the local *Mart (name removed to protect the guilty)(There was only one that ended in "Mart" in this part of the country then...they're the ones that are Chapter 11 now.) I needed to buy a new electric drill. It was $20 some dollars and they were having a 20% off sale on that brand. So the clerk gets out his pen and paper and he's figuring like mad crazy and after a minute or so he says "that'll be $1.00 and something off, right? I said "10% of $20.00 is $2.00 so 20% of $20.00 should be $4.00, right???" Poor kid looked totally puzzled. Must have been sleeping whenever they taught how to figure percentages. Atleast now they have cash registers that do the work for them.
But when they break it's back to the pen, paper, fingers, and toes.......
