Well I'm suppost to have the 4.11 in my 9", but behind the th350 and I have to either change my transmission (to a 700R4) or the gearing as I can't go onto the freeway that well...
Moe, I didn't research the Chevy stuff that heavy so I had to look yours up - automatic right... Well I have no advice for a good final ratio that is torque converter friendly - didn't do any research at all on automatics.
One thing I would say is that is one super super close ratio 1st is ~2.5 and 3rd is 1.00. If you are wanting freeway speeds and the ability to start from a dead start you have to have a larger range than that. I'd be looking at a trans swap.
I found a 1970's 9 inch with a 3.50 gear that i rebuilt with a Detroit locker and kept the 3.50 gear. Now after driving around the front range. I should have opted for 3.70 gearing. Around town and on the flats 65 mph and faster no problem, but when it comes to hills I wish I had the 3.70. My T19 has the same gear ratio as the T5 minus 5th gear. I would't put anything higher than 3.50.
The big thing none of you mentioned is rear tire size, the OD of the tire plays a big part in figuring out your overall ratio which in turn effects rpm's. Here is a great tool for figuring out what your final ratio/ rpm's will be. http://www.f-body.org/gears/
Bryan, when talking about rear axle ratios lower gears are a higher numerical ratio, you had it backward "understand the lower the gear the higher the top end". For example a 4.11 is lower than a 3.50 gear and thus could lower your top speed if your engine can't get the rpm's needed.
