Not sure what is wrong here. there is no pattern to it. the battery light will come on whenever it feels like it and run the gauge up to the top of the operating range. It even makes the headlights brighter when it does it. I am thinking a short in a wire or loose ground, but dont know where to begin. I cleaned and tightened the battery terminals, and even though it cranks alot better now the battery light still acts up at will.
Any ideas????
Thanks
Joe
I never know when it is going to act up and I dont remember it ever happening when I am setting still. Usually going down the road. I was wondering about the alt., but not sure how I would check it if it was not acting up.
I checked it when I cleaned and tightened up the posts, and was getting like 14.4V if i remember right. maybe I will just throw a new alt. at it and see if that works.
Which one and where is the best alt to purchase?
Thanks
Not sure what alt is best. 14.4 volts sounds about right. Many talk of the wiring clip coming out the top of the alt being loose or bad grounds. Original alt? If your batts and connections are good, might look into this.
this is exactly what mine did before it went out. Check it now and fix it before it takes both batteries with it or worse yet leaves you stranded on the side of the road 100+ miles from home (ask me how i know) lol
Hi all.
I have the same problem.
Diagnosed it to the alternator.
The one I have is a remanufactured one and I do not know what the oem pulley size is on the alternator.
Can someone who has an oem alternator tell me what the pulley diameter is?
Not original and unfortunately I know how u know. Not quite 100 miles from home but far enough. My own just went out one night with no warnings headlights faded and then nothing.
well thanks for the tips
