Went to go start the beast 1976 F250 w/360 DS2. The solenoid just clicked. So I took the solenoid off and cleaned the back, made sure I had a good battery & cable connection. Reconnected everything and now I have nothing, no lights no radio, no blower nothing. I had a spare solenoid & ignition switch, I put those on and the same. Kinda stumped on this one. I jumped the solenoid and the engine will crank but no start.
Check the fusible link. It's located on the battery side terminal of the starter solenoid and will have a tab that says "fusible link 16 ga".
To check it gently tug the wire. If it stretches or feels soft, it's bad and needs to be .replaced
Agree with Mike. The first time when you just heard a click, the starter would not turn for some other reason. But now that you have no power anywhere at all, it's likely that the fusible link at the start of the wiring harness is blown.
You likely shorted some wiring while removing the solenoid. The battery-side of the solenoid is hot at all times. ALWAYS disconnect the negative battery cable FIRST before servicing this point.
