Black smoke
My truck has a new found power and willingness to move lately not that I'm complaining at all, but anything over roughly 1/3 throttle and I get black smoke from the exhaust and a mad rush of acceleration, truck is 100% stock, according to the SGII FICM main power fluctuates between 47-48v, everything seems fine except the black smoke. not sure if to not worry about it or dig deeper to see if anything is wrong. engine is running smoother than it ever has doesn't stumble, run rough.

Black Smoke leads to a faulty fuel gauge I think. Everytime I get it my gauge runs to the left.

I would NOT ignore that. Your truck should not smoke running a stock calibration. You could have an injector over fuelling.

oh how I wish, unless it was done by previous owner(which I highly doubt), those are coming eventually once I save some money and make 100% sure everything is right on the truck first. got to do a coolant flush, and possibly looking at a oil cooler soon(only at a 7-10deg spread), and EGR delete

have you pulled and clean the egr valve??

no surging, just smooth running, smoother than it has since i bought it, no on the EGR but it is something on my list to be done at first avail opportunity ($$)

You need someone with the IDS system to run injector contribution tests, or someone that is sharp with AutoEnginuity.

I too had this issue with my truck a few months back ford did it under warrenty and said it was the ficm seems to be good now
