CB Mounting/Headliner

So I got a CB for Christmas, and now I need to figure out how to mount it. I was thinking up on the headliner between the visors, but I don't know whats up there. Anyone have any pics of the cab roof without the liner, or know if this is feasible? Otherwise I'll just pop it in the dash somewhere. Antenna's going on the drivers side cab corner.

You could look into this headliner.

Do you already have an overhead console of some kind? If not, there shouldn't be anything to worry about ruining. There's a couple of inches between the inner and outer cab shell, so it's not like mounting screws will end up through the roof.

I can't remember who it was but somebody here cut a hole in his headliner and then ran the wiring between the headliner and cab, so it looks like a factory mount.

I can see the idea you have. Though I wouldn't stick it up there.

That's where I mounted mine. You also have to remember you still need a 12v source and ground. Plus a place to run the antenna wire. I simply got my test light out and found a key on power source then found a ground. For the antenna wire I poked a small hole though the transfer case boot then ran the wire down the frame and up the back of the cab to where I mounted the antenna on the bed rail.

Perfect! I was hoping for a space, or at least some reinforcing rails. Antenna wire will be above the liner and I have a bus bar in the cab already for power. I would have put it under or in the dash, but the shift lever (manual) takes out a lot of space and it's a Galaxy DX939, so it's 10x8x2.5 (LWH), little on the large size. This setup is the farthest away the antenna and wires, including power (after the bus), they can be from noise sources, except the rear drivers side speaker, and that's getting some extra shielding. Probably strip the liner on Wednesday and have it buttoned up on Thursday.

I'd mount it under the dash. There is no way I'd modify the headliner or dash for a CB.

Here's a pic of one without the headliner:

It had a radio there at one time. There's at least 1.5" of clearance for the screws. I'll be putting in a CB there soon. The antenna will go in the middle of the roof, & the power and PA wiring will go under the windshield trim & down the A-pillar trim to get under the dash...

Thanks for the picture.. I've always wondered what was there, 3 reasons I didn't know: I've just been too lazy / afraid I might mess up the headliner / didn't have a need.

To be honest I think lazy is the biggest reason!!!!
