Help!!! CB Coax Wire

Ok so I have a 95 Ford Ranger Manual Reg. Cab 4x4. I am connecting everything tomorrow. I have my whip mounted on my metal tool box. SO 1 that shouldnt need a ground should it? 2 How am I going to get the wires (coax) from the antennas on box in the bed of truck to the inside of my truck where the CB is? I have no clue where to look to feed the Coax from the outside of the truck to the inside.

I use a magnet mount. Its' actually saved the whip from some low overhead obstacles. No ground with the magnet mount and it uses the same load as the hard mount version.

As to running the coax, you have two choices. First one is down between the box and cab, use a zip tie to fasten it to the frame and run it up over the rocker panel and in through the door into the cab. Problem with that is the coax is exposed to damage and door doesn't seal perfectly. I usually do this myself so I can remove it to keep it from getting ripped off when I'm not using it.

OR you cut off the connector from the end, run it between the box and cab, along the frame with zip ties and up into the engine compartment. Find a good spot where you can drill a hole without bothering anything else. Go to a parts store and get a rubber grommet that the coax goes through so you'd need soap to get it through. Measure the grommet to determing the hole size to drill, drill the hole, insert the grommet, and feed the coax through the grommet into cab. Don't cut off any excess coax, the length of the coax is 'matched' to the length of the whip and the radio. Buy a replacement connector from Radio Shack and connect it. Use a match meter to make sure that the unit and antenae are properly matched.

If the coax is too short, you could install the grommet in the back of the cab. Don't use an extension unless you check it with the match meter first.

There are also two extra grommets under the cab in the '94 you can use.

I used the rear driver's side one when I was running my CB without problems. This picture is of the passenger side, laying just in front of the rear tire looking forward.
