Is There A Rubber Grommet In The Rear Cab Area Of An Extra Cab, So That An Antenna Cable Can Run Through It? I Have Decided To Mount The Cb Behind The Center Console, But Can't Find A Way To Run The Antenna Cable Out Of The Cab Area.
several people have run the antenna wire out thru the third brake light on the cab. to get a clean install, you'll have to run the wire up the C-pillar and under the headliner to the hole. Make sure afterwards, you seal it back up right to prevent leakage when it rains. Post pics when your'e done.
I have a 9' whip antenna coming off of my tool box in the back bed. I ran the wire around/under the tool box hiding best I can, went in between the box cab, then through the cab. Works perfect. Did nto have to go through window at all. I have pics in my gallery
Look between the cab and the bed. There should be a louvered vent on either side, (although I haven't looked at the 2004's - they should be there.) If you take a razor knife and make a small slit in the carpet backing behind the seat, in front of that vent, you can push your coax though there. There's a rubber flapper on that vent and the coax will slide right through. If you want a fender mount antenna. There's a rubber access cover through the firewall. Look below the master cylinder on the firewall, you should see a big rubber plug.
About the only other clean way of doing it is drilling a hole. If you go to Lowe's they sell rubber grommets that will seal the coax. If you go this route, make sure to get your grommet first and pre-drill a hole in an old piece of sheet metal to check the grommet for fit.
