I got a 86 4.9l bronco I use for off roading and my winter driver. It was stock height I had put 33s on it and I think this is when it started with the bigger tires, but my power steering belt keeps popping off, it is a single 1/4in wide v ribbed belt. I had recently installed a 6in sispension lift on it and I want to know is their a better power steering pump I can put on their?
I am looking at putting maybe 36s on their this spring, I know the ifs can't go too big with tires, I did just find out their was a slot for a breaker bar on the bracket to tighten the tension, the belt did stay on a lot longer than before, maybe the bolt just loosed up, I can check that out, maybe put a longer bolt with a jam nut. I know when their isn't enough tension on the belt usually when I turn the wheel and the pump squeeks, I usually get the rm up and it doesn't squee.
Just wondering if u guys know any good pump to use.
There is the fabled Saginaw pump. I wish I knew the part # so I could do it myself. However have you thought about swapping up to a Serpentine system? That should really help you out, plus it shouldn't be too pricey with junkyard parts.
I might look into that fenco p/s pump, I don't want to spent too much money switching the whole system over to serpentine belt, I bought this truck cheep and the floor is starting to rot out, I'm doing my best to get my money worth out of it, if I do serpenite then I need to get a new alt, and pulleys. I was thinking if I can get a turn buckle mounted on the stock bracket then I can get t tighter than with the breaker bar.
One thing I notice on ur picture is that ur belt wraps around all pulleys? Am I correct?
Mine only wraps around the crank pulley, I might try one that wraps around the water, ant crank pulley. I only have the alt, and power steering pullies so I might be able to try that. I'm thinking I didn't tighten the bolts good enough, so this time I torqued the bolts to 70ft lbs, hopefully this works for now, I might look for the e150 pumps I heard the do turn easier.

Nope, he has a couple belts. A gator back is a "ribbed" belt instead of the traditional strip of grooved rubber.
Also, (Warning! crazy question) Does anyone know if I can use an older style bracket (v-belt) for my Power-steering set-up and make it work with a serpentine.....

Yeah I ment the power starring belt wraps around the water pump and crank pulley. Do you have a part number for that gator back belt, I would like to check it out? And where did u buy it from?
I have noticed my belt has warped a little bit, I doesn't sit flat when I lay it down.
i went to check the fluids under the hood before work and i noticed the belt had flipped around in the pulley. so tomorrow i will try and get a new belt and hopefully help solve this problem. the one guy i work with told me when it does this the belt is usually stretched. how much play should be in the belt when i move the bracket? about 1/2in sound about right?
