Loot list

OK what did Santa bring?

My daughter received a Kindle Fire.

Got it connected online in only 5 minutes. WIFI not 3G/4G

It's an amazing product.
It streams movies and TV shows.
Internet browsing
E Books

We're going to need the Tech Forum Greywolf brought up.

Bought $32.00 of accessories online already.
I'm thinking hard about adding a 2 year extended service/damage warranty for $44.00 from Square Trade.
$76.00 for a gift she received.
Let's not forget that you need to buy apps and books and media,
UNLESS you join Amazon Prime for only $80.00 a year.
The Kindle comes with a month of Amazon Prime for free.
Free movies, Lending Library more with Prime.
I can stream movies and TV on my computers through Amazon Prime.
I been watching old Rocky & Bullwinkle shows along with Falwty Towers.

That was Christmas here.
At least I don't have to buy batteries.

Not too bad here. Returns list is shorter than most years.

We did well also. Got stuff that we all needed. My wife got a Kindle Fire as well and they love it.

My wife got a car radio with a remote that she can play her iPod through, and four new speakers to replace her torn ones.
...I fixed a bunch of blown bulbs in the dash while I was at it.

She also got some warm soft Wigwam socks and a knife sharpener for stocking stuffers.

What kind of internet speed do you have to have to stream movies or watch TV? Does the kindle do everything that an Ipad or Android wi-fi tablet would do?

Ice scraper. Although seeing the weather so far, I don't know how much ice I'll be scraping.

But for those of us who live in an area where we cannot get cable or 5mb internet, how fast of a connection would be required? Anyone know?

From Netflix.com;How fast does my broadband Internet connection need to be to watch instantly?

Watching instantly works with all different levels of broadband, however, we recommend a minimum speed of 500kbps (0.5MB).

Thank you. I've come across that before. I was just wondering if anyone had real world experiences. According to that info, I could watch movies instantly, but many times I can't even watch a youtube video without hitting pause and letting it get a good head start or it will buffer or pause during the video.
