ok where i have a 1980 f250 4x4 sas with kingpin with 351m matched to a np 435 4speed i just picked up a 77 460 out of a licon with 78000km orignal miles and am about to do this swap and ive been reading that i need to get a new oil pan to clear the crossmember in the truck and a remote oil filter and a 390 flywheel and 302 piolt bearing and this will be using my 351 motor stools will there be any diffrance in if i pick up some 83 to 86 460 stools and motor mounts thanks for any help
Yes you should get a rear sump oil pan. The 351M-400 motor mounts will not bolt to a 460 block. I don't know who told you to use a 302 pilot bushing ? I just went to the local parts store and bought one for a 429-460 and it worked fine. This is discussed quite often so I'll just repost what I found out about flywheels and clutches when I did mine.
This is what I found out about using FE flywheels incase someone tryes to steer you in that direction. The 360-390 flywheel will work but the 360 is drilled for 11.5 the 390 11" the 351M-400 12". IMO you should have the factory size 12" in your truck. The problem with the 360-390 is anyone I found were only drilled for a long style clutch and thats where the trouble is. The long style psi plate takes up more room in the bell housing causing it to lock up. So you would just think get it redrilled for the diaphagram psi plate, problem was 2 different shops quoted me $100 to drill it and by the time I'd have bought the flywheel, had it drilled, resurfaced and might as well as put a new ring gear on at that point too, it was adding up quick to as much money as the new one cost and I'd still have been stuck with a smaller clutch.
The best deal I could find on the right flywheel was Summit FMS-M-6375-Z460B $279.95. No one that I could find cast them so you are stuck buying a billit one but in the end you can just reuse all your 351M-400 clutch so you can save some money there.

Make sure to get the correct flywheel, the 77 Lincoln engine is internally balanced, the 79 up truck 460s are externally balanced. Someone asked this in another area and by using the older 460, you are stuck on the flywheel.
