Basicly it was: my 06 fires up after 1.8sec of cranking and the oil gauge starts to move 3.8sec after cranking starts ( engine running 2.0sec). This is warmed up but shut off for 30min or so. On immediate restart #'s were 1.8 to fire and 2.8 to gauge moving. Checked it after work so don't know about cold start. Pretty precise I know but I have an app for that.
My truck has sit overnight. I can time it and let you know about cold start if that would help.

Reason: Wrong URL
I would say I am good then, doesnt seem to be more than 2 sec when I do. Havnt watched the oil gauge though, will try that when I leave work.
So I tested the FICM and got 36v on cranck and down to 32v when running, needless to say I took it out, resodered and it tests at 48v when running now!
Funny thing is that the truck is still acting sluggish, powerless at times and powerfull at others. Scangauge2 says nothings wrong. It doesnt feel like a miss, but more like theres something blocking the air filter (i checked...there isnt)

Something to check here: RELIGIOUSLY watch your ECT and EOT's and see if there's a corolation between the Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde performance. I found that my truck acts that way at a particular temperature also.

yes but don't you have the bpd oil cooler? yet you see a sluggish performance with certain temps? i find this very intriguing. what temps would that be?
I do have the BPD cooler but that doesn't have anything to do with Dr. J/ Mr. H performance at a particular temperature.
What I notice is that at "X" temperature I have particularly sensative throttle response and at "Y" temperature not so much. I would call neither one sluggish with my truck but there is a definite difference.
I don't want to reveal temp's yet because I don't want to have any outside influence on the "test results".

48v does not automatically make your FICM good. I have the exact same thing going on with mine. I reflowed mine and see 48v with no change in the truck. There is more to the FICM like I said, and I will be sending mine into Ed.
ECT/EOT???? Ill tell you what I know. My exhaust temps run 600 at idle, 900-1000 WOT. The operationg water temp is 180-190 depending on outside temp and time driving. I can check the scangauge2 for whatever you need, also If there are any gauges you recommend or something I should monitor more let me know
Im almost wondering if I need to send it to ED also, no more white smoke a gas mileage got a little better after resoder, but performance still fails.
Heres some history:
I bought the truck in May 72k miles, it got a 190amp alt, new batteries, oil change, fuel filters and blue spring right away during summer. Ran like a raped ape ( i think the guy had a tune on it or something, he had the exhaust temp gauge on it and when I went to cutout a zoodad...walla it was already cut, and he had the resonator removed and put a 3 foot section of 4" pipe in...sounds good)
I mean this truck would break em loose 20% throttle in rain with 20" HD wheels with big *** nitto terra grapplers. NOW I cant break em loose with KY jelly going through a turn full throttle.
To be honest it seemed like as soon as the temp outside was under 70 deg the trucks started to act like a girl, like it performed better in the heat. It seems wierd because normally colder denser air permits more air in, more air for combustion, but i dont know if that works samne with diesel
The ECT should be at 188-190 operating temp even when it's cold out. That can make a difference in performance AND fuel economy. Your thermostat may be bad which means it defaults to open if it's failed. Diesel's run better when they're hotter. That being said, I don't think that would make an extreme difference in performance as you describe. Has your truck ever been reflashed?
according to ford specs, our trucks should fire within 2.5 seconds. anything excessively long should be given the once over and checked thoroughly for probs. might be batteries or my obtrusively-twisted sense of paranoia. have a swell day guys!
Not to steal this thread, but I did replace my thermostat yesterday and now I get the 188-190 deg reading on the ScanGuage II that I was expecting. Thanks for all the help!
Mike
The truck gets to 190 operating temp after driving a while. Just doesnt see that much because my job is literally 5 min away.
Maybe its the cold weather...I mean I bought the truck from Florida where it never saw 50deg in its life and now im here in Ohio freezin her out...19 deg with 30mph winds right now....brrrrr
First time the truck has even seen snow also, should be a blast
