Interesting i had always been told they were the same.
Dont worry john, when im done you wont be able to tell its not origional. Aaaand, imo better. When i rebuild it, its getting a doghouse similar to your van / RV as shown in the pic. So the way i look at it, an improvement when it comes to working on the engine. The hump in the floor will be no bigger, if not smaller than one in a obs or newer truck. Still have all the footspace i had before. On top of that, i dont like remote mounted turbos, and where that one sits leaves room for another one on top of it
That sounds like a good idea! I love trucks, but that doghouse is handy when you need the back of the motor...
You should see my bed floor for getting at the fuel tanks lol. If i have to do something to my pickup and it takes 2hrs, shame on Ford, if i have to do it again and it takes me more than half an hour, shame on me. I like working on my pickup... i dont like getting my *** kicked by bolts and clips and pipes i cant reach.
you must have a differant turbo kit than mine... mine sits further forwaerd and about 30 degrees off of straight with the back of the block...and is that zf5 speecd trans behind it...

Its 100% homemade minus the holset turbo and the air filter.
that explains the differances, mines a banks non wastegated turbo setup from a 84 supercab 4X2 auot truck that another member traded me to swap the 6.9 it was on into his 93 with its turbo kit on it..the cool part is it uses a cast alimunm air intake box instead of a snail shell hat like some of theother kits...i;m sure i'll have to rework a couple things as i progress and the intercooler setup will need to be 100% original...nice truck though keep the pics rollin..
