Problems with starter
I have a F-250 Superduty 6.4 diesel with 17,000 miles. Within the last 1,000 miles my truck starter will hesitate for about a second and kick back on and start the truck. It has always started, but will usually do this. I hear a a tap and then it re-starts. My local dealer replaced the starter labeling it a "miscellaneous starting issue" for warranty purposes. Upon replacing the starter the problem ceased for about a week and resurfaced. Has anyone had a problem similar? Even though the truck always starts I pull a 3 horse gooseneck trailer. I pull horses to some remote areas to ride. I don't want to have a dead stick and 3 horses 200 miles from home. Ideas? My dealer feels everything is A OK.

Big Sky, Thanks for the response. My problem is a little less exotic. Yes the mechanics checked the batteries / cables / wiring to the starter. Everything checked out ok. I have an appointment with the Ford garage next week. I don't know if this year of SD's (2009) had any other electrical / wiring / computer issues. I had 1 recall for an electrical issue with my door switch which controlled the dome light. The problem with the starter occurred long after that recall. Thanks for the reply!!
